What you need:
    Recipe:
  • 2 cake mixes (your favorite kind)
  • Buttercream icing (recipe below)
  • Maraschino cherry with stem
  • Pirouette style cookie
  • Vanilla pudding (for filling)
  • Piping bag
  • Melon baller
  • Knife
  • Baking pans
  • Bowls/spoons for mixing
    Buttercream Icing:
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tsp water
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

What you do:

  1. Make both cake mixes in round 8” pans and bake according to package directions.
  2. When cake has cooled, stack together and cut out triangle shape.
  3. Spoon vanilla pudding over fist layer of cake and place 2nd cake layer on top gently. Place cake in refrigerator until ready for decorating.
  4. Make Buttercream Icing by mixing all ingredients together expect food coloring.
  5. Tint 1 tablespoon of icing blue.
  6. Tint approximately 1/3 of icing dark yellow (the more food coloring added the darker the yellow will be).
  7. Tint the rest of the icing a pale yellow (less food coloring will make a lighter yellow).
  8. Take cake from refrigerator and start with icing the cake using the darker yellow for the top and the lighter yellow for the sides of the cake.
  9. Make small indentions on the sides of the cake using the back of a melon baller.
  10. Pipe a blue icing swirl and arrange cookie and cherry on top of your cake and enjoy!
